Problem:

Braintrust is a decentralized talent network that needed to find a way to offer memberships, control access to various features, and make user profiles composable.

The challenge was that users weren't on the blockchain. We were using a traditional web2 Postgres database to self-host custodial wallets. There wasn't a 1:1 radio of wallets and none of the users were tracked on-chain.

The goal was to build a prototype for an NFT (non-fungible token) that could be rolled out across our user base once complementary features were created.

Solution:

Our team developed a soulbound membership NFT that could act as the user's wallet, allowing them to directly deposit tokens within it. It also could allow us to control membership levels and access to various features.

Finally, we were able to make the Braintrust user profiles composable so they could be used anywhere in the web3 ecosystem.

Impact:

Successful rollout to pilot user-base
NFT ready for broad release once additional features are ready
