Driving while drowsy is a major cause of road accidents. Our client, a transportation company, wanted to ensure the safety of their drivers and passengers by implementing a drowsiness detection system in their vehicles. They approached us with this challenge.

Our team discovered that existing drowsiness detection systems were either too expensive or not accurate enough. We needed to develop an affordable and reliable solution for our client.

Solution

We developed a drowsiness detection system using Python and OpenCV. The system uses a camera mounted on the dashboard to capture images of the driver's face. Our algorithm analyzes these images in real-time to detect signs of drowsiness such as drooping eyelids and head nodding.

If the system detects signs of drowsiness, it alerts the driver with an alarm and sends an alert to the transportation company's control center. The system also records video footage of the driver's behavior leading up to the alert for review by the company.
