Problem
The challenge was to create a job-matching platform for Alameda County that connected gig workers with local employment opportunities while integrating community-based organizations (CBOs) affected by the pandemic. The project needed to address the disconnection between CBOs and leverage new opportunities for workforce development, particularly for justice-impacted individuals.
The team faced several challenges, including limited resources and a tight timeline. Additionally, they had to ensure that the platform met the diverse needs of the community while achieving high adoption rates among CBOs.
Solution
In partnership with the Beyond Jobs team and Turning Basin Labs (TBL), led the adoption and implementation of the countywide EbFlexi platform. This innovative hub for gig employment integrates advanced tech and strategic partnerships to bridge community gaps.
The team executed a dual strategy:
Community Integration: Engaging deeply with CBOs to ensure the platform met the diverse needs of the community, achieving a remarkable 90% adoption rate among these organizations.
Strategic Marketing and Communication: Implementing a multifaceted marketing strategy to ensure widespread adoption and effective integration, using data-driven insights to connect with potential users and stakeholders.
Impact
Increased local employment opportunities by effectively connecting gig workers with relevant job openings.
Strengthened the operational capabilities of CBOs, enabling them to serve their communities more effectively during the post-pandemic recovery phase.
Marked a significant advancement in local economic resilience and workforce development.
