The Course

BA Esports (Hons) is a degree program that focuses on the business aspect of Esports. At the time of this degree, there were no existing programs that catered to this specific niche, leaving students with no clear path to pursue their passion for Esports while also learning about the business side of things.

Education and Skills Development

Digital Media and Broadcasting: Developed skills in digital media, broadcasting, business, marketing, event management, and community/cultural studies within the Esports industry.
Event Hosting and Production: Gained expertise in hosting small and large-scale Esports tournaments and events, working with industry-standard broadcast technology across different platforms.
Marketing and Analytics: Acquired knowledge in marketing events, data analytics, and roles such as community management, league operations, and production/broadcast.
Industry Insights: Developed critical insights into corporate social responsibility, regulation, emerging technologies, and innovation in the Esports industry.

Practical Experience

Event Organisation: Organised various events, including varsity tournaments, charity fundraisers, and the annual 'Campus Clash.'
Industry Collaboration: Collaborated with the Alpine F1 team on the 'Community Cup' Series.

Extracurricular Activities

Varsity Leagues Participation: Participated in UK and international varsity leagues such as NUEL and NSE.
Competitive Societies: Joined competitive societies for games like League of Legends, Call of Duty, Valorant, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros.
Networking Opportunities: Networked at UK Esports events for inspiration and career growth.

Professional Development

Industry Projects: Completed live industry briefs, ran personal projects and explored freelancing and marketing skills.
Global Field: Completed 2 semester placement year in Kajaani. Finland's School of Esports.
