Goal

Currently we have realistic prosthetics and high functionality prosthetics, but one comes with the cost of another. Our team is focused on creating a prosthetic arm that performs as realistic as a human arm range and motion, but also provides the aesthetics for feasible blending.

Design

After several meetings, we chose to focus primarily on the forearm to finger tips for the first prototype. The fingers specifically, went through several iterations, where we finally landed on creating different segments each with a 45 degree connection to allow for full movement and connected with flexible material to represent ligaments and tendons. The palm was deigned to house the servo motors for controlling the fingers and wrist movement. The forearm is at the beginning stages of prototyping with only one iteration, where we house the Arduino with a program that allows for single finger movement or one entire hand motion movement.
