Problem

Our team was tasked with creating a climate control unit that could be easily installed and controlled via IoT. The main challenge was to ensure that the unit could accurately detect changes in temperature, humidity, and occupancy, and then transmit this data seamlessly to the MQTT server for processing.

Additionally, we needed to create a system that could activate various actuators based on the sensor data received. This required us to develop an algorithm that would compare the room temperature and humidity levels with those outside the room, as well as take into account the number of people in the room.

Solution

To solve these challenges, we built a sensor unit on ESP32 that periodically published data from the humidity, temperature, and occupancy sensors to MQTT server. We tested this sensor data with our team to ensure its accuracy and reliability.

We then developed an algorithm that allowed us to transmit commands through IFTTT to activate various actuators such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and fans based on the sensor data received. This allowed us to create a seamless climate control system that could be easily controlled via IoT.
