Background

Our team was approached by a construction company that was interested in exploring the potential of using Augmented Reality (AR) in combination with Virtual Reality (VR) technology for construction planning and building modeling. The use of AR could potentially enhance the immersive experience of construction workers and project managers by providing real-time information about the construction plan and allowing for quick problem-solving.

Problem

The construction industry is known for being slow to adopt new technologies, but there is a growing interest in AR and VR as tools for improving efficiency and safety on job sites. Our challenge was to create a proof-of-concept that demonstrated the potential benefits of using AR in combination with VR for construction planning and building modeling.

Solution

We developed a prototype that used AR to overlay digital models onto physical job sites, allowing workers to see how different components fit together in real-time. We also integrated VR technology into the platform, which allowed project managers to explore 3D models of buildings before they were constructed. This gave them an opportunity to identify potential issues before they became costly problems.
