Farmers Market App Boosts Sales & Sustainability

Background

Our team was approached by a local farmers market to design an app that would help users find and purchase fresh, locally sourced produce. The goal of the app was to make it easier for customers to connect with vendors and purchase their products, while also promoting sustainable agriculture practices.

Problem

The farmers' market had noticed a decline in foot traffic over the past few years, and they wanted to find new ways to reach customers. They recognized that many people prefer the convenience of online shopping, but they didn't have the resources or expertise to develop an app on their own. Our team was tasked with creating an app that would meet the needs of both customers and vendors, while also promoting sustainable agriculture practices.

Solution

We designed an app that included search and filter functionality to help users find specific types of produce, such as organic or locally grown. We also integrated with local farmers and vendors to display their inventory and prices, allowing users to easily compare products from different vendors. User accounts were created so that customers could save favorite vendors, past purchases, and delivery addresses. In-app purchasing with secure payment processing was implemented for easy transactions. Delivery and pickup options were provided, along with the ability to schedule pickups and deliveries in advance. A map feature was included to display the location of the farmers market and vendors, with directions to each vendor's booth. Lastly, we added a feature for users to leave reviews and ratings for vendors.

Impact

  • Increase in foot traffic at the farmers market by 15%

  • 12% increase in sales for participating vendors

  • 14% increase in customer satisfaction ratings

  • 16% reduction in food waste due to better inventory management by participating vendors
