Naira to the Rescue

(Chocolate First, World Later!)

Getting into the PYP program at a Prestigious School was tougher than finding a unicorn in your backyard. Yet, here was little Naira, all set to conquer the world one chocolate stain at a time.

With her tiny pigtails bouncing like springs, chubby cheeks flushed with excitement, and socks that were forever sliding down her legs, Naira was a force to be reckoned with. She wore her handkerchief as though it were a cape, fluttering proudly in the breeze—because, of course, a superhero needs a cape.

She entered the room with her parents, unbothered by the gravity of the situation. To Naira, the serious air of the room was as intriguing as the shiny new Peppa Pig teddy sitting on the table. She instantly fixated on it, eyes lighting up with the kind of joy only a child could express over a stuffed toy.

The principal, sitting across from her, observed with a knowing smile. It was clear that Naira was completely at ease, entirely in her own world. A world where she could, with confidence, rule kingdoms, save the day, and perhaps even fix broken hearts. Little did the adults know, she had a secret weapon: imagination.

Naira, with a piece of chocolate in her hand that she had clearly snuck before entering the room, looked up at her mother and then showed her sticky fingers. "Mamma, it’s sticky," she said with a serious frown, as if she were speaking about an ancient, unsolvable mystery.

Her mother quickly wiped her hands with a wet wipe, her gaze softening at the sight of her daughter’s innocent logic. Meanwhile, Naira was busy trying to communicate with the Peppa Pig teddy as if it had been her best friend for years. The principal, who had spent decades navigating serious school interviews, couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. Here was a child whose world was entirely her own, a world where grown-ups were just part of the scenery.

Finally, Naira turned her attention to the adults. With the careful scrutiny of someone who had only just learned the difference between crayons and markers, she assessed whether they were worthy of her time. Then, in a dramatic flourish, she hoisted herself onto the chair with the kind of determination that made even the most seasoned professionals raise an eyebrow. She looked at the adults with the complete confidence of someone who knew she was the star of this show.

The principal, recognizing the need to connect with Naira in her own imaginative world, picked up the Peppa Pig teddy and waved it gently. "I see you found a friend, Naira. Peppa loves adventures. Do you like adventures too?"

Naira’s eyes widened as though the principal had just asked if she liked breathing.

"I LOOVE adventures!" She said it with an energy that made the room seem smaller.

"I save the world all the time!"

The teachers exchanged curious glances, clearly unsure whether to laugh or engage in this fascinating conversation.

"Oh? And how do you save the world?" The principal asked, leaning forward.

Naira swung her legs back and forth, her pigtails bouncing rhythmically.

"Depends," she said, eyes narrowing with the seriousness of a seasoned diplomat.

"Sometimes I use pizza. Sometimes I use unicorns. And sometimes… duct tape."

The teachers struggled to suppress their smiles. It was clear that Naira was no ordinary first-grader. Her imagination was like a finely tuned engine that never stopped churning out wild, improbable solutions to any given problem.

"Duct tape?" One teacher asked, eyebrows raised in disbelief.

"Yes," Naira replied, with a tone that suggested everyone in the room should know this universal truth. "You can fix anything with duct tape. Except for broken hearts. That’s where the pizza comes in."

Now, the principal was struggling to contain herself. "Alright, tell me a story about saving the world."

Naira, now visibly excited, clasped her hands together. "Okay, so, one day, the Sun got really tired and sent a WhatsApp message saying, ‘BRB, taking a nap.’”

"The Sun has WhatsApp?" another teacher asked, laughing.

"Of course! It has unlimited data,” Naira said, as if the concept were as natural as breathing.

The teachers chuckled.

"And then," Naira continued seriously, "the plants couldn’t make their breakfast! They were all standing like this—" (Naira made a funny droopy face and wobbled her hands like sad plants.)

"Mama said we had no Maggi at home, too! It was a BIG emergency!"

So, I ran to my magic box and brought my special magnetic sand. I told the plants, 'Here, sprinkle this and you will stay green and happy!'

“And guess what?” She whispered. “They all started smiling and dancing!"

Everyone in the room smiled widely. The principal blinked. Magnetic sand? She couldn’t help but imagine what kind of magical world Naira lived in, and secretly, she was a little bit envious.

"And then," Naira said, eyes even bigger,

"All the ice creams in the world started melting without permission!

Can you believe it?

Without asking anyone!

"Is that a thing?" The second teacher asked, barely holding back the laughter.

"Yes, it is," Naira replied with a shrug. "Ice creams have feelings, too. They can’t melt without permission. They had a pinky promise."

Naira continued, “I shouted, 'Stop! You need a permit to melt!'

But they just kept melting and making puddles everywhere!"

The teachers giggled.

"But don't worry," she added quickly.

"Batman came to help!”

The Principal tilted her head. “Batman?”

“Yes! The room erupted with laughter. The principal wiped her eyes and smiled. "And who saved the day?"

"Me and Batman," Naira said, puffing out her chest with pride.

"Batman?" The principal thought in her head, still chuckling.

"Yes. He was at a pizza party for orphans. He came on his Bat-bike for the rescue!"

She paused dramatically.

"But guess what? His bike had no petrol! It just made funny sounds like ‘putt-putt-CLUNK-CLUNK!’ and stopped."

One of the teachers chuckled, covering his mouth.

"So Batman called Ravi Bhaiyya!”

The other teacher was curious to know, “ Who is Ravi Bhaiyya?”

Naira replied in her own super stylish way, “Ravi Bhaiyya is my friend. He is the fixer of all things! He came with his magic toolbox to fix the fan. Then we both convinced it to pretend it was the Sun. The clouds were hot and needed cool air.”

Naira’s hands were flying in the air now, acting everything out.

The teachers were now in stitches. This was no ordinary child. Naira’s imagination was a delightful cocktail of absurdity, confidence, and sheer brilliance.

"Duct tape, magnetic sand, and a fan to save the Sun. I must say, you’ve got quite the plan," the principal said, barely able to stop laughing.

"And then what happened?" The principal asked, breathless with laughter.

"Then the clouds got so happy they started snowing!" She said, twirling in her chair. "And Olaf—you know Olaf, the funny snowman—he made pretty snowflake shapes and we all danced to the Booboo Song!"

The principal, curious now, asked, "The Booboo Song?"

Naira nodded so hard her pigtails bounced wildly. "Yes! The Booboo Song! When someone gets hurt, you have to sing it to make them feel better."

She leaned closer and whispered, "Because just then, Mama got a booboo while making pancakes. The pancake flipped and hit her nose!"

Naira stood up, put her hands on her hips like a tiny boss, and sang loudly:
🎵 "Mommy has a booboo, let’s kiss it better! Mommy has a booboo, sing together!" 🎵

Everyone burst out laughing.

"And after the song," Naira said seriously, "we all helped Mama by eating LOTS of pancakes. Even Olaf had one!"

“And the Sun?” The principal asked.

“The Sun missed its Instagram followers and came back with a selfie stick,” Naira said, mimicking the action of taking selfies. “It had to get its glow back.”

The principal sat back, utterly amazed. "Naira, you are incredible. Where do you get all these ideas?"

Naira blinked innocently, as though it were the simplest thing in the world. "From my brain. Momma says it’s like a popcorn machine—always popping with new ideas."

By the end of the interview, Naira didn’t just secure her place at the school but also got an honorary sticker titled "Official World-Saver and Ice Cream Inspector."

The principal chuckled and gave her a gentle pat on the back.

"Thank you for sharing your wonderful story, Naira!" She said warmly. "I can’t wait for you to tell more stories to your new teachers, too — especially the one where a Pizza Became the President!"

“Yes, I will! If you give me a chocolate," she giggled, spinning once on her toes like a very serious ballerina, "And next time, I’ll tell you about the Ice Cream Party in the Jungle too!"

The whole room filled with soft laughter…
