I often end up with random leftover ingredients in my fridge and don’t know what to cook. Searching online for recipe ideas takes too long, and I still struggle to find options that match my preferences — like quick meals, Indian flavors, or vegetarian options.

Solution

I created a custom GPT to act as a recipe assistant trained on my food preferences.

I added basic instructions to the GPT like:

“Suggest a recipe using the following ingredients”
“Make it vegetarian and under 20 minutes”
“Include Indian or Mediterranean flavors if possible”

Whenever I’m unsure what to cook, I type something like:

“I have broccoli, paneer, and one tortilla — what can I make for dinner in under 20 minutes?”

The GPT suggests a tailored recipe that matches my taste and time limit. If I like it, I save it to Notion so I can find it again later.

Impact

This setup helps me avoid food waste and decision fatigue.
Instead of spending 15–20 minutes searching for something to cook, I get a custom idea in seconds — and I’ve actually enjoyed trying combinations I wouldn’t have thought of myself.
