If I Had to Live My Life Again

(A once-in-a-lifetime thought, I was gently compelled to complete)

This piece was first shared with me by a friend. Somehow, it felt like a forgotten part of my own soul. As I read it, something stirred in me. Perhaps the ache of all the “almosts” “What -ifs” and “not-yets” we all carry inside us. It felt like an urge, not just to read but also to complete it. Maybe it is not always what we begin, but what finds us halfway, waiting to be understood and carried home.

So here is that home: Soft, Simple, & Sacred!

If I had to live my life again,

I’d find you sooner.

Before the bruises formed,

and before life had any name!

I would look for you in the early light,

when the world would be still quiet,

when the morning's smell like hope,

and time hadn’t yet had a tightrope.

I’d search for you in that old bookstore,

between pages of a folklore,

in a quiet cafe where hearts softly glow,

under golden lamps and candlelits slow.

I wouldn’t wait until I was steady.

I’d find you even when I wasn’t yet ready.

Still tender, still learning how to be,

still wearing my wonder in utter glee..

I’d give you my first laugh!

The kind that rose from the belly,

before the world told joy to hush,

And wonder faded in constant rush.

And maybe then,

the ache would weigh less,

the waiting not

stretch into loneliness.

And the love?

So much deeper,

because it would’ve begun

before the world taught me to run.

I’d find you in my dreams,

And in walks under skies

before I mistook silence for pride—

before loneliness dressed itself as strength inside.

I’d hear your name in my earliest songs,

and say it aloud where the soul belongs,

not as a cry, but as a hymn,

a home I knew, deep within.

If I had to live my life again,

I wouldn’t wait for fate to unfold.

I’d choose love over logic,

and feel life like it’s gold.

Sooner. Always, sooner—

so that even in our final breath,

we’d smile and say:

“We began when love was not slayed,

And that’s where we stayed!”
