Is to drive you under starlit skies,
Until your heavy heart feels a little lighter.

You carry that extra spoon,
’Cause you hate to see them struggle with the flimsy ones.
They save that extra bajra roti,
’Cause they remember it’s your comfort.

When even a glimpse of rasmalai
Takes you back to the time
Someone knew exactly how to make you feel special.

They vibe with you.
It’s a mystery how well they just get you.
A glance, a sigh, a half-sentence,
Enough to speak entire novels.

You don’t need to filter yourself.
With them, you’re not a curated version.
You’re real, raw, and still so deeply accepted.

They’re your truest fans,
Your sharpest mirrors,
And your safest silence.

They brighten your mornings with just one message,
And hold space for your storms without a single word.

You message them when life is okay.
But you call them when it’s not.
Because, “Message karne se achha hai ki call kar lein,
Kam se kam aawaaz toh sun sakte hai!”

That voice, that presence,
Is sometimes all the healing you need!

Just to say: “Suno na... aaj kya hua…”
And they listen.
Not to respond,
But to remind you you're never alone.

They’ve been there all along,
Through your mess-ups and meltdowns,
Victories and vulnerabilities,
Inside jokes, loud laughter,
And tears that only fall in private.

One remembers how cranky you were in 1st-grade math class,
Sulking over sums and pencils,
While they patiently waited to play with you at recess.

Another still laughs about how your Telugu teacher
Called you Jayaprada,
When you draped a sari for the first time!
A little shy, a little proud,
But every bit the native Telugu girl she imagined.

And then, your college mate,
Who jokes about your “lemon charu–inspired industrial microbiology”
Because friendship makes even the toughest lessons digestible,
When served with rasam and laughter.

No distance can dilute it.
No differences can divide it.
And no amount of time can age it.

Because with them,
You don’t just survive the world,
You feel alive within it!

That… is friendship.
Not a label.
Not a status.
A feeling.
A lifeline.
A quiet forever.
