Background

Checkr is a leading background check company that provides modern and compliant solutions for hiring teams. The company has been successful in serving enterprise customers, but they wanted to expand their services to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). To achieve this goal, the Chief Product Officer (CPO) decided to create a growth product team that would focus on increasing SMB customer activation. We were tapped by the CPO to lead this initiative.

Problem

The main challenge we faced was how to increase SMB customer activation without sacrificing compliance or quality. We needed to find a way to make the onboarding process easy and seamless for SMBs while ensuring that Checkr remained compliant with all relevant regulations. Additionally, we had to figure out how to differentiate our offering from competitors in an already crowded market.

Solution

To address these challenges, we worked closely with the VP of Marketing, Director of SMB Sales, and Director of Data Platform to create a strategic growth roadmap and define our team charter. Our first step was to conduct extensive research on SMBs' needs and pain points when it comes to background checks. Based on our findings, we developed a user-friendly platform that made it easy for SMBs to sign up and start using Checkr's services.

We also implemented several features that set us apart from competitors, such as real-time status updates and customizable workflows. Finally, we made sure that our platform was fully compliant with all relevant regulations by working closely with legal experts throughout the development process.
