Background

As a team, we recognized the need for African diaspora to reconnect with their roots and learn their mother tongues. Many Africans born outside of Africa struggle to learn their native languages due to a lack of resources and access to teachers. We wanted to create a platform that would connect them with local teachers who could teach them their mother tongues.

Problem

The problem was that there was no centralized platform for African diaspora to connect with local teachers who could teach them their mother tongues. Many people had to rely on word-of-mouth recommendations or search for teachers on social media platforms, which was time-consuming and unreliable. Additionally, many people were hesitant to learn online due to concerns about the quality of teaching and lack of personal interaction.

Solution

We created a website that connected African diaspora with local teachers who could teach them their mother tongues. The website featured profiles of qualified teachers, along with reviews from previous students. Students could book lessons directly through the website and communicate with teachers via video chat or messaging. We also offered a free trial lesson so that students could try out different teachers before committing.
