Background

Fox Sports approached our team with a challenge: create an AI-powered video highlight reel generator for the FIFA World Cup 2018. The goal was to allow users to select any combination of parameters, such as year, team, player, match, and play type and generate a video highlight reel within seconds. The footage had to be available 20 minutes after the end of a match.

Problem

The main challenge was developing an algorithm that could quickly analyze hours of footage and identify key moments in the game that would make for an exciting highlight reel. We also needed to ensure that the user interface was intuitive and easy to use so that even non-technical users could generate their own highlight reels.

Solution

Our team developed a custom AI algorithm that used machine learning to analyze each match in real-time. The algorithm identified key moments in the game based on factors such as goals scored, yellow cards given, and exciting plays. We then built a user-friendly web interface where users could select their desired parameters and generate their own highlight reels within seconds.
