Problem

Visually impaired persons (VIPs) face difficulty in preparing meals independently, which can lead to lowered nutrition levels. Roasting food items was identified as the cooking process that VIPs were most likely to attempt.

Solution

Our team conceptualized an assistive device to aid VIPs in the process of roasting. The device is an electrical lid cook-top that provides on-pan spatial awareness and eases the process of roasting multiple foods by providing heat from the top. It works with a standard 28cm diameter pan present in a majority of Indian households.
