First Meroku based dApp Store

From Facing Problems to Solving Them

Android and iOS hold a complete monopoly over which apps reach the masses. To end this monopoly Polygon Labs created a dApp Store kit, Meroku. Facing multiple problems ourselves with the stores, Akshit and I got on helping the ecosystem move forward by working together with the Polygon Labs team.

Helping people build dApp Stores

We got on with building the dApp store using the dApp Store kit while working together with Polygon Labs, one for Android and the other for web users. The idea here was and is to allow others to take a look at what we built and build their own dApp stores.

The work we did is open source on Meroku's git for others to reuse and ship the dApp store.

Why this approach?

It was the easiest way to help the ecosystem adopt it and move away from the monopolies of Apple and Google. Organizations have less friction and more motivation to build their own ecosystem-focused dApp store. Now there are multiple organizations building on top of the work we did, without having to start from scratch.
