Problem

As a team captain for the TUBITAK Efficiency Challenge for three years, our team faced several challenges in designing and manufacturing a car that would spend the least amount of energy. One of the biggest problems we encountered was creating a composite chassis and body shop that would be lightweight yet sturdy enough to withstand the rigors of racing on both the KORFEZ RALLY TRACK and ISTANBUL PARK F1 TRACK. Additionally, we needed to design a unique suspension system and other mechanisms that would further reduce energy consumption.

To make matters worse, we also had to secure sponsorships and attend various trainings while managing the entire design and manufacturing process. With so many moving parts, it was difficult to ensure that everything was running smoothly and efficiently.

Solution

To overcome these challenges, we took a systematic approach to our design process. We began by breaking down each component into smaller sub-components, which allowed us to focus on each individual part without losing sight of the bigger picture. This helped us identify potential issues early on in the design phase, which saved us time and resources in the long run.

We also made sure to communicate regularly with our sponsors and attend all necessary trainings as a team. By doing so, we were able to secure additional funding and gain valuable insights into how we could improve our design process.
