Problem

The problem we faced was the need for high-quality video content to showcase our Culinary and Pastry Skills program. However, we lacked the necessary space, equipment and expertise to produce these videos in house.

To add to this problem, Covid19 prevented people from gathering in small spaces to produce video. Most of the tutorial videos were being shot from the home kitchens of chef and were lacking in quality and consistency.

To solve this problem, we needed to build a physical studio and assemble a team of media professionals who could help us produce high-quality video content on a regular basis post Covid19 pandemic.

Solution

At the tail end of the pandemic we onboarded the Media team. Once we were able to gather in groups, we decided to build a physical studio in Chicago, Illinois, where we could re-film all of our Skills videos. We hired a team of media professionals who were experienced in video production, editing, photography and post-production work. Together, we created a state-of-the-art studio that was equipped with the latest cameras, lighting equipment, and editing software.

We set standards for video production that included the appropriate timing, motion graphics, callout outs, instructional prompts, scripting dynamics as well as parameters around travel for talent and safety protocol.

Our team worked closely with the Culinary SME's to develop scripts for each video segment. We also flew in talented chefs from around the country to teach and cook on camera. Our media team filmed each segment and then edited the footage into polished videos that showcased our program in the best possible light. Our graphic design team applied motion graphics, and the instructional design team applied quality assurance best practices to each production.

We used Monday.com to manage the project(s).

What is unique about this project was that it was completely out of the team's skillset! The team's main focus was in instructional design, not architecture.

The dedication and hard work of the team paid off exponentially, as they skillfully filmed and expertly edited each segment, resulting in polished videos that brilliantly showcased our program's offerings. Our graphic design team contributed to the visual appeal with captivating motion graphics, while the instructional design team ensured that each production adhered to stringent quality assurance and curriculum practices.

As a result of this transformative solution, the Culinary and Pastry Skills program now stands out as a beacon of excellence, capturing the attention of aspiring culinary enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. The impact of our high-quality video content has extended beyond expectations, attracting a wider audience and elevating the reputation of our program to new heights of recognition and acclaim. This endeavor has firmly established our organization as a leader in culinary education and enriched the lives of countless learners passionate about honing their culinary and pastry skills.
