Problem

Our team was tasked with creating an auto empty dustbin for a robot vacuum. The problem we faced was that the current dustbins in the market were small and needed to be emptied frequently, which made it inconvenient for users who wanted to use their robot vacuums regularly without having to constantly monitor and empty the dustbin.

We knew we had to come up with a solution that would allow users to have a seamless experience with their robot vacuums while minimizing the need for frequent maintenance.

Solution

After conducting extensive research and testing, we came up with an auto empty dustbin system that could be attached to any existing robot vacuum. Our system included a larger dustbin that could hold more debris, as well as a docking station where the robot vacuum could automatically empty its contents after each cleaning cycle.

The docking station also included a built-in filter system that would prevent any dust or debris from escaping into the air during the emptying process. This not only made it more convenient for users but also improved indoor air quality by reducing airborne particles.
