Problem

We were tasked with migrating Apollo GraphQL subgraphs from one supergraph to another supergraph. The challenge was that the subgraphs had different schemas and we needed to ensure that the migration was seamless for end-users.

One of the biggest concerns was ensuring that all queries and mutations were still functional after the migration. We also needed to make sure that there were no data inconsistencies or loss during the migration process.

Solution

To tackle this problem, we first created a detailed plan outlining each step of the migration process. We then worked on mapping out the differences between the two schemas and identifying any potential conflicts.

Next, we developed a custom tool to automate the migration process. This tool allowed us to easily migrate data from one schema to another while ensuring that all queries and mutations remained functional. We also conducted extensive testing throughout the entire process to catch any issues early on.
