Problem

WEAVE, a non-profit organization in Sacramento, needed a permanent housing community for victims of domestic abuse. The challenge was to create a safe and appealing living situation for these individuals while working with a tight budget.

Our team recognized that the design of the community would play a significant role in creating an environment that felt welcoming and secure. We knew we had to find creative solutions to make this project successful.

Solution

We approached the project by focusing on functionality and simplicity. We worked closely with WEAVE's team to understand their needs and requirements for the housing community. Our design incorporated elements such as natural light, green spaces, and communal areas that fostered a sense of community among residents.

To stay within budget, we used cost-effective materials such as concrete blocks and metal roofing. We also utilized passive heating and cooling techniques to reduce energy costs. By prioritizing functionality over aesthetics, we were able to create an attractive living situation that met all of WEAVE's needs.
