As the founding CTO of a startup, we faced several challenges in establishing a robust technology foundation for the company. Initially serving as the sole full-stack engineer, I was responsible for end-to-end development, from frontend to backend and DevOps. With limited resources and time constraints, we needed to find a way to efficiently develop highly specialized applications that would drive competitive advantage and innovation.

One of our clients, 'Kings of Neon,' had a design-to-manufacture process that was time-consuming and inefficient. They required an automated neon-sign generator that could streamline their process and reduce lead times. Additionally, we conceptualized and developed 'Teatime,' a niche social network platform catering to aged care homes, which required unique features to enhance community engagement and well-being.

Solution

To address these challenges, we leveraged cross-disciplinary skills in computer vision, data science, and machine learning to develop highly specialized applications. We used agile methodologies to ensure efficient development processes while maintaining high-quality standards.

For Kings of Neon, we developed an automated neon-sign generator using computer vision algorithms that could generate designs based on user input. This significantly reduced lead times by automating the design process. For Teatime, we developed unique features such as video conferencing capabilities for remote family members to connect with their loved ones in aged care homes.
