As a future educator, I recognized the need for a more personalized and adaptive learning experience for students at beginner levels in developmental psychology. Since developmental psychology covers a wide range of complex theories and concepts, the challenge is to present these concepts in a way that is understandable and relatable to students. Moreover, students in the class may have different levels of prior knowledge and diverse learning styles, and it would also be a challenge to engage all of them effectively and cater to their needs. Traditional classroom learning methods were not providing enough individualized attention to help each student reach their full potential.

Additionally, with the rise of remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it became even more challenging to provide one-on-one support to struggling students. We needed a solution that could adapt to each student's unique needs and provide personalized feedback and guidance.

Solution

An AI tutor was designed specifically for beginner-level students for a foundation course in developmental psychology. The tutor uses machine learning algorithms to analyze each student's strengths and weaknesses and tailor the learning experience accordingly. It assesses learners' current understanding, offering customized instructions, and providing constructive feedback based on interactions. This AI tutor encourages active learning by employing open questioning, guiding students to discover answers themselves, and emphasizing the application of psychological principles through real-life examples. By individualizing learning paths and fostering critical thinking, it aims to enhance engagement and comprehension of the subject matter and overcome challenges in their learning journey.
