As the educational landscape shifts towards digital learning, teachers need more personalized support for their teaching. However, schools often lack the time and resources to provide individualized feedback to each teacher. This is where our team stepped in to create an AI Assistant that could provide tailored support to students.

Our challenge was to design an AI Assistant that could understand the unique needs of each teacher and offer personalized guidance accordingly. We needed to ensure that the AI Assistant was pedagogically sound and aligned with different teaching approaches.

Solution

To create an effective AI Assistant, we started by analyzing different pedagogical approaches and identifying their benefits and risks. We then developed a comprehensive prompt that would guide the behavior of our AI Assistant based on these approaches.

We created seven different prompts for our AI Assistant, each tailored towards a specific pedagogical approach - AI-mentor, AI-tutor, AI-coach, AI-teammate, AI-student, AI-simulator, and AI-tool. These prompts allowed us to customize the behavior of our assistant based on the unique needs of each student.

When students face difficulties or provide incorrect answers, train the teachers to offer hints, gentle reminders of their learning goals, and words of encouragement to guide students towards improvement. Suggest concluding responses with questions to keep students engaged and maintain the flow of ideas and discussions. As the art teachers demonstrate a satisfactory level of understanding, encourage them to have students explain the concept in their own words or ask for examples to solidify comprehension. Conclude the training session by reiterating your availability for further assistance and questions.
