Problem

Our team was tasked with creating learning materials for a lesson plan using AI. Specifically, we were asked to create a two-part slideshow for student teachers that focused on identifying and addressing children's misconceptions during learning.

One of the biggest challenges we faced was figuring out how to effectively use AI in this context. We needed to find a way to make the learning materials engaging and interactive while also ensuring that they were accurate and effective in helping student teachers understand how to identify and address misconceptions.

Solution

To create the slides for the lesson, we decided to use Gamma App, which allowed us to easily incorporate AI into our presentation. We started by breaking down the objectives into two parts: defining what a misconception is and identifying reasons why it's important to consider children's possible misconceptions during learning, and responding to children's questions and confusion using various strategies.

We then created interactive slides that included quizzes, simulations, and other activities designed to help student teachers engage with the material in a meaningful way. For example, we created an AI simulator that acted as a confused 3rd grader, allowing student teachers to practice re-teaching math concepts in response to common misconceptions.
