As a team of educators, we noticed that creating engaging and informative lesson plans for students can be time-consuming and challenging. In particular, designing slides for read-aloud lessons that capture the attention of third-grade students while conveying important information can be difficult.

We wanted to find a way to streamline this process and create high-quality slides that would enhance the learning experience for students without requiring teachers to spend hours on design work.

Solution

To address this problem, we decided to use an AI-powered platform called Gamma.app to generate student-facing slides for read-aloud lessons. We began by selecting a specific book - Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears: A West African Tale retold by Verna Aardema - and creating a sequence of events review, group read aloud with the thinking job “What is the lesson or moral of this story?”, guided practice with turn-taking questions.

The platform was designed to automatically generate visually appealing slides that would highlight these elements while also providing additional context and information about the story.
