Problem

Mantrac / Unatrac group needed to deploy their ERP system across East and West Africa and the Levant area. The team was resistant to the idea, making it difficult for the project manager to train them on how to use the system and understand its logic.

The team's resistance was a major problem as it could lead to delays in launching the ERP system. The project manager needed to find a way to get the team on board with the new system.

Solution

The project manager tackled the resistance issue by consistently communicating with the team and following up with them. By doing so, he was able to address their concerns and explain why using an ERP system was important for the company's growth.

The project manager also identified one of his team members who showed a keen interest in supply chain management fundamentals. He encouraged her to pursue a degree in supply chain management, which she did, eventually becoming a Supply Chain Manager at one of East Africa's biggest automotive companies.
