Problem

During Q4, one of our best-selling products, an oversized gaming chair, was restricted by Amazon's FBA. We had already invested in inventory for Q4 and couldn't afford not to sell the product. The only solution was to fulfill the product using D2C.

Contracting 3PLs that could store and fulfill the oversized product was challenging due to the time sensitivity during Q4. However, we were able to finalize agreements with a couple of 3PLs and agree on convenient shipping rates.

Solution

The first step was changing the shipping destination from Amazon to the 3PL warehouse. Then we set up information flow for customer orders and a return system.

This successful launch of Marcus Excelsior's D2C business model allowed us to fulfill a wide range of products as storage problems with Amazon continued in following months.
