Challenge

The manual process of bar and beverage inventories is labor-intensive, time-consuming, and error-prone. The current method involves spreadsheets and "eyeballing" product levels, which leads to inaccurate reporting. Our client wanted a solution that would provide real-time inventory feedback to the business, standardize reporting levels, and eliminate the need for multiple people to handle inventory.

We proposed a mobile-first design with integrations with POS payment systems. Our solution was to create a mobile-friendly react app that would allow one person to handle inventory without having to look up and down at a spreadsheet. The app would also allow for custom bar and shelf creation, show liquor or beer in each bar/shelf arrangement as they appear in real life, and report out on each individual item on what's left and needs to be ordered.

Solution

I ran this development team as the Product Owner/Scrum Master.
Our team used XP methodology to deliver the project on time and within budget. We created a mobile-first design that was easy to use for one person handling inventory. The app was then integrated into the primary bar management software and allowed for real-time inventory feedback.

We developed a react app that was mobile-friendly and showed liquor or beer in each area as they appear in real life. The app provided accurate reporting on each individual item, eliminating the need for "eyeballing" product levels. This standardized reporting levels across all areas of the business.
