Challenge

Beverage Management Company CEO and senior leadership were frustrated with the lack of project delivery, long product time-to-market, and lack of insight into their development pipeline. The absence of a structured project management approach led to missed deadlines, work that fell outside of top business priorities, and an inability to prioritize projects based on business objectives.

The company needed a solution that would provide clarity and assurance that development activities matched executive business priorities each quarter. They required a process to manage projects efficiently, reduce time-to-market, and improve resource allocation.

Solution

I directed the creation of a Project Management Office (PMO) to establish a structured approach to project management. I developed support pipeline processes, change management processes, release processes, and project and resource reporting, and worked with existing teams to implement each. These measures provided clarity into the development pipeline while ensuring that all activities aligned with executive business priorities.

The PMO also implemented agile methodologies to streamline project delivery. This allowed for faster feedback loops between stakeholders and developers, enabling us to make changes quickly based on user feedback. We also introduced reporting and enhanced use of Jira Plans with stakeholders ensured everyone was aware of progress made on each project, and that all work aligned with current business priorities.
