Problem

One of our clients, a large corporation with multiple locations, was struggling to manage access control and security for their facilities. Their existing system relied on keycards and PINs, which were easily lost or stolen and did not provide adequate security. Additionally, the client needed a way to track employee attendance and prevent time theft.

We proposed implementing a face recognition and authentication system that would allow for secure access control and accurate attendance tracking. However, we faced several challenges in developing this system.

Solution

To address the client's needs, we developed a real-time face recognition technology that could identify and authenticate individuals based on their facial features. We used support vector machine (SVM) and local binary pattern histogram (LBPH) algorithms to extract unique facial templates from each individual's face. These templates were stored in a real-time database managed by Firebase.

The system was designed to perform real-time face detection and feature extraction whenever an individual entered one of the client's facilities. The captured data was then compared against the database of facial templates to determine if the individual was authorized to enter the facility. In addition, the system tracked employee attendance by recording each time an individual entered or exited a facility.
