Problem

Food drying is a common method of food preservation that has been used for centuries. However, traditional food dryers are often powered by non-renewable energy sources such as electricity and gas, which can be expensive and harmful to the environment. Our team was tasked with designing and developing a renewable energy-based food dryer that would be cost-effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

We conducted extensive research on existing renewable energy technologies and food drying methods to identify the most suitable solution for our project. We also had to consider factors such as the size of the dryer, the type of food it would be used for, and the climate conditions in which it would operate.

Solution

After careful consideration, we decided to use solar energy as the primary power source for our food dryer. We designed a system that consisted of a solar panel array, battery storage unit, and an electric fan to circulate hot air through the dryer chamber.

The dryer itself was made from locally sourced materials such as bamboo and recycled metal sheets. It was designed to be portable so that farmers could easily move it between fields or store it when not in use. The system was also equipped with sensors that monitored temperature and humidity levels inside the chamber to ensure optimal drying conditions.
