Problem

Our team was tasked with creating a CAD of an airfoil for a folding wing. The challenge was to design an airfoil that would be efficient in terms of lift and drag, while also being able to fold without compromising its structural integrity.

We started by researching different airfoils and their properties, but we soon realized that there were no existing designs that met our requirements. We needed to come up with a custom solution that would work for our specific application.

Solution

After several iterations and simulations, we came up with a unique airfoil design that met all of our requirements. We used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software to test the performance of the airfoil under different conditions, such as varying angles of attack and wind speeds.

The final design featured a curved upper surface and a flat lower surface, which created the necessary lift while minimizing drag. The airfoil also had a tapered thickness from root to tip, which allowed it to maintain its structural integrity when folded.
