Problem

As cyber threats continue to increase, companies like Mastercard need to ensure that their employees are well-equipped to identify and report potential security threats. However, identifying which areas of the business need more robust security training can be a challenge.

In February 2024, we worked on a cybersecurity virtual experience program on Forage where we served as analysts on Mastercard's Security Awareness Team. Our task was to help identify and report security threats such as phishing and analyze which areas of the business needed more robust security training.

Solution

To address this problem, we developed a comprehensive cybersecurity virtual experience program that simulated real-life scenarios for Mastercard employees. The program included job simulations that allowed employees to practice identifying and reporting potential security threats like phishing scams.

We also analyzed data from previous security incidents to identify which areas of the business needed more robust security training. Based on our analysis, we implemented customized training courses and procedures for those teams.
