About Me

I’m Ching-Wei (William) Kang, a Computer Science B.S. student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (expected May 2027). I’m interested in software engineering and data-driven systems, with experience building backend pipelines and full-stack applications. Previously, I worked as a Data Engineering & Automation Intern at The Marcus Harris Foundation, where I built a Python-based web data ingestion pipeline (BeautifulSoup/Requests/Pandas), implemented robust parsing and regex extraction at scale, and integrated the workflow with PostgreSQL and scheduled updates to support analytics and reporting. I also build projects outside class—including an AI-powered interactive RPG web app using React/TypeScript and Google Gemini APIs with JSON schema validation, and a Flask-based data product for real-time matching and recommendations. I enjoy collaborating in teams, learning production-minded engineering practices, and shipping tools that make workflows faster, safer, and more reliable.
