In 2013, an early-stage startup in Los Angeles was facing challenges with the traditional advertising model for agencies. The company had created an online marketplace for businesses to find creative talent for marketing and creative projects.

Problem Statement

The traditional advertising model was no longer effective, and the company was struggling to acquire new clients and grow revenue.

Approach

I was hired as an early employee to lead the business development and growth strategy. I developed a strategy to acquire new clients, trained a sales team, and collaborated with the product team to create a marketplace app that connected brands with creative agencies and freelancers.

Results

The efforts paid off, as the business development and sales strategy led to a 220% increase in revenue in the first quarter. The company won new clients from startups and Fortune 500 companies, including AMEX, Blue Apron, and Samsung.

Lessons Learned
