Problem

Our team was tasked with creating an augmented reality app called Dig and Learn that would allow users to learn about the history of Miami and its local flora and fauna. The challenge was to make the app geolocation specific, use computer vision to search and learn, and tag them for future app uses in AR.

We realized that we needed to create a user-friendly interface that would allow users to easily navigate through the app while also providing them with accurate information about their surroundings.

Solution

To address these challenges, we decided to use Unity3D as our development platform. We used Vuforia for image recognition, which allowed us to identify objects in real-time using the camera on the user's device. We also used Wikitude for geolocation services, which helped us provide location-specific information about Miami's history and local flora and fauna.

We created a simple yet intuitive interface that allowed users to easily navigate through the app. We also included features such as tagging objects for future reference in AR mode, making it easy for users to revisit their favorite locations or learn more about specific objects they had encountered during their exploration of Miami.
