Problem

As a Product Manager at Amazon Prime Music, we were tasked with developing a podcast product for the platform. The problem was to create a successful podcast offering within Amazon Prime Music that would cater to the user's needs and preferences.

We identified that the existing music streaming service lacked podcast content, which resulted in users switching to other platforms. Our challenge was to develop a podcast product that would keep users engaged and reduce churn rate.

Solution

We started by identifying user segment pain points and opportunities from the perspective of Amazon Prime. Based on our research, we found that users preferred listening to podcasts while commuting or doing household chores. We also identified that users wanted personalized recommendations based on their interests.

To address these pain points and leverage opportunities, we proposed solutions such as creating curated playlists based on user preferences, integrating voice assistants for hands-free listening, and partnering with popular podcast creators for exclusive content. We prioritized the Minimum Variable Product (MVP) features based on their impact and feasibility.

During the decision-making process, we considered trade-offs such as development cost, time-to-market, and user experience. We explicitly mentioned any assumptions made during prioritization and solution proposal.
