Problem

We faced a challenge when one of our team members was resistant to learning a new project management system. This lack of motivation was affecting their ability to actively participate in the project and hindering progress.

Despite our efforts to encourage them, they remained disengaged and uninterested in learning the new system. We knew we needed to find a solution that would help them understand the importance of this change and motivate them to learn.

Solution

To address this issue, we took a multi-faceted approach. First, we helped the team member understand their "why" - why learning this new system was important for their personal growth and development within the company.

We then created a learning contract with them, setting specific parameters based on SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals. We also established an assessment process to track their progress and provide feedback along the way.

In addition, we encouraged a community of practice for all staff to share their learning and experiences with the new system. By creating an environment where everyone was learning together and supporting each other, the team member felt more motivated to actively participate.
